The Mission’s Beginnings
Mr. Rafael “Boy” Dizon, Jr. and Mrs. Rosaline “Shalene” Dizon had a dream to build and dedicate a church in honor of St. Thérèse after Boy’s recovery from cancer—a miracle they attribute to their family’s constant prayers to their patron saint.
In 2003, the Dizon Family made this dream a reality when they established the Shrine of St. Thérèse in Pasay City, Philippines, leading them to venture to a similar project in the United States - The St. Thérèse Mission.
Why the Mojave Desert?
Boy and Shalene envisioned the Mojave Desert to be the perfect location for The St. Thérèse Mission. The location was away from the city lights for religious solitude, yet close enough to Las Vegas to be a draw for the city's large Catholic population and tourists alike.
The St. Thérèse Mission is an official Catholic Mission of the Diocese of Fresno under the Lone Pine Parish, which is headed by Fr. Douglas Walker.
Why The St. Thérèse Mission?
We are the only Catholic Cemetery serving the Las Vegas and Pahrump Valleys
Our cemetery was designed around the Catholic Faith but is open to all persons of different religious persuasions. We offer a sacred, uniquely natural and serene setting for the eternal remembrance of your passed loved ones.
We are more than just a Cemetery
Our cemetery is located within the grounds of a Catholic Mission. With services weekly, a resident chaplain and a growing church community ensures that your loved ones will be interred in sacred grounds where their memories will be prayed for and remembered.
Our sprawling 17.5 acre facility invites reverie, yes; and also recreation. The Mission was designed as a joyous space for the living; where visitors can come to attend various cultural, social, and educational events. The cemetery is only one of the elements of our property, which also includes a Catholic Mission, a Visitor Center, Plaza, Event Center, Gift Shop and playground.
