Despite many trials like the loss of her mother at an early stage and her bout with the undiagnosable illness, St. Thérèse did not waver in faith nor in love. When she entered the convent at the age of 15 after receiving the “miracle of conversion,” she was determined to serve God and devote her life to showing people how transformative God’s love can be.
St. Thérèse died of Tuberculosis on September 30, 1897 after writing her memoirs, The Story of a Soul. Because of the love, spirituality and devotion she inspired, St. Therese was beatified by Pope Pius on 1923. She was canonized two years after, on May 25, 1925.
Love proves itself by deeds, so how am I to show my love? Great deeds are forbidden me. The only way I can prove my love is by scattering flowers and these flowers are every little sacrifice, every glance and word, and the doing of the least actions for love.
